Popular S.L. bar, Port O' Call, calls it a night
February 3rd, 2009 @ 10:27am

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A popular bar has closed its downtown doors for the last time.
Port O' Call has been around for 20 years, but shut down after one last night of partying on Monday.

A federal judge had ordered the bar to close down to make way for a new federal courthouse.
Some patrons say three-level Port O' Call is a rite of passage in Salt Lake City and is often the first big bar visited by new 21-year-olds.

The bar's co-owner, Jannette Knowley, says she won't decide whether Port O' Call will reopen elsewhere until November, when a jury trial is set to begin to determine the property's value.
We won a 4 day 3 night cruise for 4 to Ensenada, Mexico, A trip to San Antonio, TX to go to a huge show with three bands, and $1500 Cash - TWICE. We've also won smaller prizes such as $100 gift certificates to blue boutique and snowboards, stereos, etc.
Ahhh port o call.... we'll miss you and your fabulous old architecture ... get outta the way... we need a new federal courthouse **boo**hiss* I'm gonna miss port o call. :-(
